At 7:00 PM on December 10, 2020, the finals of the first Public Management Case Competition of Southwest Jiaotong University kicked off in the classroom of J01417. Professor Wang Yongjie, dean of The School of Public Affairs & Law, delivered a speech, and five teachers, including Peng Chuanyu, Liu Guihua, Liu Feng, Tang Zhihong and Liu Xin, acted as judges. The vice president Lei Xuchuan, Zhao Wei, Zhang Rongrong, Xue Jing and Mo Tailin attended the competition.

In his speech,Dean Wang yongjie expressed his gratitude to all the teachers and students who worked hard for the competition and wished every team a good result. Then the competition began, and the two final teams -- "Jiu Li Di Engineering Team" and "Ao Li Geiteam" took the stage, and there was a heated discussion and debate on "the governance of illegal buildings".

Competition is divided into two statements and debate link, first by the party a and party b respectively presents his own point of view and the theory basis, and then argue for each other. The contestants of Party A expounded the dilemma of urban illegal construction from both soft and hard perspectives, and put forward countermeasures and suggestions to solve the dilemma based on the theory of cross-department collaborative governance. Party B analyzes it from the perspectives of collaborative governance, stakeholders and government governance tools, and proposes to realize coordination among governments, between government and society, and between government and market. Both sides are well-reasoned and logical. In the free debate, the contestants from both sides asked questions about the report of the other side, closely linked and pursued each other, trying to find out the content or logical errors of the other side. They exchanged words with each other and fought with each other, which pushed the whole game to a climax.

Afterthe debatephase, the judges asked questions to the contestants, and the contestants responded one by one. The competition was over. After that, Tang Zhihong and Liu Xin respectively commented on the competition. Teacher Tang Zhihong believes that, as the first case competition, the level of students is not important in fact, what is important is that they dare to stand out, write out, argue out, enter the Chinese scene, analyze Chinese problems, use Chinese logic to deduce Chinese stories, hope that the wind of debate, discussion, learning wind prevails in the college. Mr. Liu Xin also pointed out that each student should view the current social situation from the perspective of a researcher and analyze the logical relationship behind it. He emphasized the problem of "the last mile" and advocated that students should do more, dig an inch more, and be a rational, affectionate, responsible and warm public manager.

After the discussion of the judges, the "Jiu Li Di Engineering Team" was unanimously awarded the champion of the case competition. "A Case study of the" small "Case of Osmanthus Alley Logging: the Big Defects in Social Governance" is the best case. Fan Xilin won the title of "Best Debater"; Fan Xilin leading "Jiu Li Di Engineering Team" won the school first, Wang Peiled“Ao Li Gei”team won the second grade school, Kang Jianchun led"flash carelesslyteam", Lin Yongjie led "whatwe analysisis rightteam" won the second grade school, Li Xuan led " 3 + 2 ", Han Mengmeng led "the beast corps", Tang Wanqing led "masters of the city building small team", a "brocade carp team tomorrow" led by Yu SiWen won the college level.

After the award ceremony, Vice President Lei Xuechuan summed up the competition, "We are living in a great era. China's economic development and reform and opening up have provided us with rich cases, which are both opportunities for us to observe and materials for us to learn. The case competition is not only an experience of students' learning ability, but also an immersive teaching experience of real scenes. I also wish the case competition more and more grand, more and more professional."
